After the loss of her husband, Don, Marna McLeod wanted Gulf Coast Seniors to continue into it’s 6th season. I am proud to announce that my wife and I have purchased the tour for the McLeod family. My wife, Gini and I owned and operated the Tommy Armour Tour in Orlando for 11 years, so we felt that it was a natural fit for us.
GCSGA will hold it’s first tournament of the 2009 season on Wednesday, January 7th at the Legacy at Lakewood Ranch. Tournament sites include Bob Cat Trail in Venice, Capri Isles also in Venice, Bent Tree Country Club in Sarasota, Rolling Green in Sarasota, River Strand CC in Bradenton, Calusa Lakes CC in Venice, Sarasota National Golf Club in Venice, and Serenoa Golf Club in Sarasota. We are waiting for confirmation from several private country clubs in and around the Sarasota area to complete the remaining dates. We expect to post the full schedule by November 15.
We will continue to have three divisions: 50 to 59 years old, 60 to 69 years old and 70 to 79 years old. Changes for the new season will include tee sheets with pin placements, computer score cards, first tee starter, score board results and a payout for 25 to 30 percent of the entire field. There will also be a $10 separate skins game in each of the three divisions. Range balls are included at every tournament site.
Practice rounds may be scheduled with the individual golf club. The distances we will be playing are approximately 6200 yards for the 50 to 59 group, 6000 yards for the 60 to 69 group and 5800 yards for the 70 to 79 group.
Entry fee each tournament $75 which includes tournament course cost, range balls, tax, and prizes.

This would pay 30 percent of the field and all prizes will be gift certificates from the host pro shop. The tournament results will be submitted to the Sarasota Herald Tribune, Golf Week Magazine and a newsletter will be posted to the Gulf Coast Seniors website and emailed to you each week. There will be a year end Championship Tournament for all winners in both the gross and net divisions.
